What is Tesco Product Testing?
By becoming a member of Tesco Home Panels, Tesco customers are invited to complete surveys and test out brand new products in the comfort of their own homes. Customer feedback is extremely valuable for Tesco, and testing helps to ensure great quality and happy customers. As a tester, it’s a fantastic opportunity to try out exciting new products before they hit the shelves for purchase. A win-win scenario for all involved!
I have been a Tesco product tester for a while now and have been selected several times for product trials. Tesco Home Panels announced they will be recruiting new participants in 2022, so if you are looking to become a product tester, it’s a great time to get started!

What types of products will I receive as a Tesco Product Tester?
As a member, you can expect to receive a variety of products, including clothes, shoes, toiletries, and cleaning products. Generally, the items tend to be non-food grocery products. The customer surveys include products for men, women, and children. You never know what you may be selected for, which adds to the excitement!
Do I need to be a Tesco Clubcard member to be accepted?
Yes, all participants require a Tesco Clubcard as the data is used in the recruitment of product trials. However, surveys are also issued to collect information about customer preferences. I have been recruited to trials based on my answers to these surveys, so there will be opportunities to trial products you may not have tried previously based on your Clubcard data.

How do I sign up to Tesco Home Panels?
[Edit – Tesco Home Panels are currently not taking on new members, however, they have stated that they will be opening their doors later this year, so keep your eyes peeled!]
First things first; you need to sign up to Tesco Product Testing via the link here. You will need to provide your personal details and complete a survey regarding your preferences (remember to have your Clubcard details at the ready!). After setting up your account and password, you will have access to the Tesco Home Panels member’s area. You can log into this area when completing surveys, you will also receive email prompts when surveys are available.
After completing surveys on your product preferences and personal tastes, you may be matched with a product. Tip: If you receive an email notifying you that you have been selected, respond quickly as there will be limited numbers of product testing slots available.

How do I receive my items to begin testing?
After accepting a product testing trial, the items are sent directly to the customer’s home address. Tip: Ensure your contact details are completed and up to date!
Trials can last from a minimum of two weeks to several months depending on the product, so double-check you are able to commit to the full trial before accepting.
You will be given a period of time to use the product and test it thoroughly, and depending on the product you may be given instructions such as ‘wash and wear 3 times’ to test out the quality and durability of the item. After this trial period, you will then receive a notification via email prompting you to complete the survey and submit your feedback.

How does the Tesco Home Panels points system work?
For every survey completed, you will be awarded one point, and upon reaching 50 points Tesco Home Panels will send you a £10 voucher as a thank you gesture. I have got a long way to go before I reach 50 points! In my opinion, it’s not worth focusing too much on building points; they may stack up as you participate in more surveys, but it’s not something you need to worry too much about.

My 4 top tips for Tesco Home Panels:
- Stay on top of the emails and complete the surveys on time. They usually advise on closing dates, but try to be quick!
- Be honest! Complete your surveys honestly, and give your real opinions and preferences
- Don’t accept items you know you won’t use. It’s wasteful and in 2022 we are trying to avoid clutter, only bring items into our homes that we truly love and Marie Kondo the rest. If an item is useless to you, don’t accept it just to declutter it a year later. You are wasting everyone’s time and creating work for future you!
- If you are selected, give a true review. In return for trying an item, give thoughtful, genuine feedback. It’s only fair!

Final thoughts: How to Become a Product Tester via Tesco Home Panels
If you are looking to try product testing and you already shop at Tesco, then I’d say signing up is a no-brainer! One of the main complaints I’ve heard is that the trials can be few and far between, but you don’t really have anything to lose by applying. It’s pretty quick to sign up and complete the occasional surveys, and you never know what you might receive. I’ve enjoyed participating in the trials myself so far and have had no issues whatsoever. My advice is to go for it!
