Find local events to go to

One of the best things about London is the amount of local events that are run all the time. It could be a local open mic night where you can go and meet people, an art class, or a local food festival. There could be an open sports day where you could join a club or use your art skills to help design rugby kit ideas for the team. Sign up for newsletters of what’s happening in your area, join Facebook groups and keep an eye on social media to find things you can immerse yourself in.

Make your house feel as homely as possible

There are so many things you can do to make your house feel homey and this will have a big impact on the way you feel in the big city. Add little touches that remind you of happy times such as art or photographs on the wall and trinkets you might have collected. Have fresh flowers in vases, cosy throws and cushions and add scents that make you feel relaxed. Add reed diffusers, candles and room sprays in scents such as vanilla, fresh linen or anything else that you really love.

Make plans ahead of time

It can be easy to feel lonely and lost when you’re in a big city with nothing to look forward to. To try and avoid this from becoming too much, try and make plans ahead of time that you can anticipate. It doesn’t have to be anything too over the top, it could be something as simple as hosting your friends for a cocktail night, going a picnic, or pencilling in drinks at a wine bar that you love. Just having these things that allow you to get out the house and discover new spots in your city can really make a difference to how you feel.

These are just a few things you can do to help yourself feel at home when living in London. While it might be a big and highly populated city, there are so many tight-knit communities within it that you can immerse yourself into and really make it feel homely.
