How to get the cheapest cinema tickets in London

Sign up as a Seat Filler

Seat fillers are able to see some of the newest movies for free, sometimes before the official release dates! There are also lots of opportunities to go to well known cinema screening events and pop ups for a fraction of the usual ticket prices.

Sign up as a London seat filler for free or reduced cinema tickets, as well as theatre, comedy and gig tickets, too.

NHS or Charity worker discount

Certain public sector workers can access the platform The Cinema Society to purchase reduced cinema tickets, and save up to 40%.

The Cinema Society also offer a price guarantee, so if your tickets are more expensive than they would have been to purchase at the box office, they will refund the difference, and add another 10% discount on top!

The Cinema Society can be accessed via Health Service Discounts or Charity Worker Discounts, as well as other employee benefits packages, so be sure to check if your employer is included.

Club Lloyds account holder benefit

Club Lloyds current account customers can choose from one of four annual perks, which include 6 free cinema tickets to be used at either Vue or ODEON. The other perks include 12 months of Disney+, a coffee membership or an annual magazine subscription.

There is a £3 monthly fee to maintain the bank account, however this is waived each month that customers pay in £2,000 or more. There is currently a bonus of £150 for switching to Club Lloyds too, so could be worth investigating if you are looking to switch.

Meerkat movies

An oldie but a goodie! When comparing and buying an insurance product (travel insurance or car insurance, for example) via Compare the Market, customers can choose from one whole year of either reduced cinema trips or discounted meals.

With Meerkat Movies you can claim 2 for 1 cinema tickets every Tuesday and Wednesday for a whole year; just download the app to claim your code each week.

Alternatively Meerkat Meals gives you discounts of up to 50% on takeaway pizza and selected restaurants.

Groupon offers

Groupon, the coupon website which offer daily deals and products at reduced prices, often offer great ODEON ticket promotions.

The most common is 2 ODEON tickets for £11, or 5 tickets for £25.  These offers can be great for families, and can work out reasonably. Equally, for regular cinema fans or those looking to see a range of films during awards season for example, this is a cheap way to bulk buy your tickets.

Keep an eye on the use by dates these tickets often have though and avoid getting bitten.

Tastecard

Tastecard is a discount membership offering cinema ticket discounts, as well as movie snack packages. Perfect if you cannot visit the cinema without a humongous tub of popcorn!

When purchasing a cinema offer via Tastecard you will receive an e-code, which can then be entered on cinema sites at the checkout to book your film of choice.

As well as reduced cinema offers, Tastecard offer tons of discounts for meals and attractions, including 25% off coffee, 50% off pizza and 241 at 1000’s of restaurants across the country.

Cineworld Day

Cineworld have hosted their very own cinema celebration days, where you can bag tickets for just £3 per person!

The last ‘Cineworld Day’ took place on Saturday 26th February, and the IMAX Film Fest was celebrated on Saturday 22nd April 2023, with all tickets on sale for just £3!

I was able to experience my very first film in 4DX for just £3 at the Leicester Square venue, with full price tickets likely to set me back over £20. It was a memorable experience and even more intense than I imagined, so prepare yourself!

Watch out for the next Cineworld/IMAX festival dates, and be quick as there will likely be a rush for tickets!

Cinema monthly memberships

If you are a regular cinema goer, signing up to a cinema pass subscription could be good value.

The Cineworld Unlimited monthly membership costs as little as £10.99 per month (depending on the location), so if you tend to visit the cinema more than twice per month, it could be something to consider.

Also, with a Cineworld Unlimited membership you can refer a friend for a free month of movies, too. If there are multiple upcoming releases on your radar, and you know you’ll get your money’s worth, it could be good value.

Remember if you sign up to the Odeon membership, you can get cashback via Quidco too.

A few of the cheapest cinemas in London I’ve come across include:

  • Vue Wood Green – The super saver tickets are £5.99. Check your local Vue, as many venues outside of London offer £4.99 tickets
  • Peckamplex – £4.99 tickets all day
  • Camden ODEON – £5 tickets for MyODEON members for all screenings
